Hi, I‘m Biggi Hofmann
I have 25 years experience as a psychotherapist specialising in creative, mind-body therapies within a transpersonal framework. I am trained in pyschodrama (individual and group), hypnotherapy, regression, sandtray, and couples counselling - amalgamating techniques, experience and wisdom gained along the way.

My Story
My journey in Northern Ireland began in 1978 when I arrived from Germany to work and live in a Camphill Community, where I shared my life with special needs residents. Following becoming a mother of three sons, I completed my third level education at University of Ulster Jordanstown (UUJ) with BSc (Hon). This experience laid the foundation for my future in psychotherapy. I later pursued training in psychodrama psychotherapy, complemented by a diploma in counselling. Through group psychodrama psychotherapy and individual analytical and transpersonal therapy, I experienced profound personal growth. Alongside being a single mother of three sons, I felt drawn to the transformative power of psychodrama, and decided to train in this method, despite being naturally shy and introverted. It was a challenge to become a visible director on stage, but my passion for this creative approach only grew stronger over time. I became inspired to integrate other therapeutic methods, including shamanism, past life regression, hypnotherapy, the power of intention, and sandtray therapy.
For eleven years, I worked as a counsellor and psychotherapist in North Belfast, starting during the tumultuous Holy Cross Dispute. I led psychodrama groups and worked with clients who had experienced political and social trauma. As my career progressed, I took on the role of clinical manager, overseeing a team of up to thirty staff members.
An opportunity to teach at Queen's University Belfast arose, where I developed and taught the Certificate in Counselling Course for seven years. I also facilitated process groups for students in their second and third year counselling training, which was incredibly rewarding. Alongside teaching, I furthered my training in clinical supervision and expanded my private practice.
Eventually, I transitioned to a clinical manager role closer to home, focusing on suicide intervention and postvention. I ran psychodrama groups with clients who had lost loved ones to suicide or were struggling with suicidal thoughts themselves. The learning was profound for everyone involved. After over two decades of working with intense trauma, I realized the impact it had on me. Today, I am grateful to focus on the creative aspects of psychotherapy, consultancy and supervision, working with clients in both group and individual settings. This journey has been transformative, and I feel passionate to continue supporting others in their growth and healing alongside my personal growth.
